I loved this hotel. It was an amazing location with a quick walk down to Fishermans wharf (and the head office of the big bus tours) and right above an amazing Italian restaurant. The beds were super comfy and they gave you space heaters if you are like me and not use to the cold. I was put in a room in the centre of the hotel the first night and asked to be moved to a room with an external window, which they were very happy to do. The shared bathrooms are very clean and so pretty and they have all sorts of extra bits and pieces for you to use including mouth wash. The hotel is full of little nick nacks which I loved and I just felt like I was at home. They even have a big coffee and hot chocolate machine where you can grab your free drink every morning. Loved my stay!

The rooms are small, no aircon and the bathrooms are in the corridors and we LOVED this hotel. Cheapest in the area but also the best. It's an historic old building filled with antique furniture and the rooms have really interesting artifacts on the walls. The location is perfect for walking to Fishermans Wharf and the Embarcadero and the street is quiet and safe. Just around the corner is Trader Joes and along the Street Goodfellas Pizza serving awesome pizzas, get the big slices. We will stay again and again. We also used their taxi to the airport, great service and best price, beat the booking.com price.

We had read up on this historic hotel before we arrived so knew not to expect lifts or private bathrooms. This was in no way an inconvenience and was a small price to pay for a wonderful few days staying here at the end of January. What an interesting piece of history! We loved the quirkiness, the staff were really friendly, the district very safe, the location fabulous. We stayed in Room 36 with a view over the quiet street. There’s an excellent Trader Joe’s a couple of blocks away so we could get everything we needed. We would definitely return.

The hotel was easy to find and in an ideal location for the tourist attractions we were interested in. We were a 5 minute walk to Pier 39 and a 10 minute walk to the Alcatraz ferry. Parking was easy enough in the public lot 2 mins walk from the front door, and although we arrived too late for dinner we found plenty of options available nearby. Staff were especially helpful and nothing we asked for was too much trouble for them. We really liked the decor, the lighting, the library and all the history on the walls.

It suited our budget. Excellent location...easy walk to Fishermans Wharf and Peir 39 and close to restaurants and bars on Columbus. Good public transport links. Hotel itself is old and the room we were in was small, but it was clean and comfortable. The shared amenities were spotlessly clean with plenty of liquid soap, shampoo, etc. The Reception staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and if visiting San Francisco again, would happily stay at the San Remo again.
